PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. The term Priapus Shot (P-Shot) is credited to Dr. Charles Runels, who created this regenerative treatment.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is the key ingredient in the P-Shot injection. PRP is derived from your own blood and consists of platelets and plasma, which contain bioactive proteins. These proteins release growth factors and promote blood flow, both of which are highly effective at triggering regeneration at a cellular level.
PRP has been used for decades to help increase the rate of recovery from muscle and tendon injuries and tissue repair. Today, the natural regenerative properties of PRP are used to help men with Erectile Dysfunction (ED) and Peyronie’s disease.
PRP has several known factors for cell recruitment that encourage proteins to nourish blood flow to a specific part of your body (which in the case of P-Shots, is your penis). When PRP is injected into the penis, it triggers these specific therapeutic properties to increase penile blood flow. The result is enhanced sensitivity, stronger erections, and improved overall performance.
The P-Shot can help treat a variety of issues, including:
Men may experience the following benefits with the P-Shot:
With the P-Shot treatment, you may save money in the long run by avoiding costly ongoing medications and surgical procedures. Because the P-Shot is an outpatient procedure with little recovery time, it’s an effective option for men who are ready to get back to living life on their terms.
Plenty of men suffer from Erectile Dysfunction and low confidence in the bedroom - But it doesn’t have to be that way. The P-Shot may boost your performance (and your confidence) simply by recruiting naturally occurring growth factors and proteins from within your own body. And because it uses your own blood plasma, your body may better utilize it instead of drawing upon foreign substances and chemicals.
Here’s how it works:
A P-Shot injection contains a concentration of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) derived from your own blood. Platelet-Rich Plasma has several important factors for cell recruitment that help your body function optimally. When PRP is injected into the penis, it may stimulate cellular repair and regeneration to improve sexual function. Additionally, PRP increases the amount of collagen production, which promotes tissue repair.
To obtain the Platelet-Rich Plasma, a small amount of blood is first drawn from your arm.
Your blood sample is then placed into a centrifuge, which spins your blood at high speeds to separate out the platelets and plasma. This process takes around 15 minutes.
Once the centrifuge has completed spinning your blood sample, a layer of PRP remains and is then extracted into a syringe.
A numbing cream is then applied to your penis, ensuring you are comfortable and pain free.
The PRP is then injected into multiple locations in the penis. The entire appointment takes approximately 30 mins. The P-shot is an outpatient procedure and you can drive yourself home following treatment.
We understand Erectile Dysfunction can be a sensitive subject for men. Each of our GameDay Men’s Health licensed providers is highly experienced in evaluating and treating men with the symptoms associated with Erectile Dysfunction.
Your first appointment will be a free consultation with a GameDay Men’s Health provider. A full review of your symptoms and medical history will be conducted in order to ensure you are a candidate for P-Shot treatment and to help you achieve the best results possible. We may also do a quick blood test at our in-office lab to test your total testosterone levels. We get these results back in 15 minutes.
If you are found to be a candidate for treatment, a second appointment will be scheduled for the P-Shot injection to take place.
While there is minimal downtime following your P-Shot treatment, it is recommended you use a Vacuum Erection Device (VED) or “penis pump”. The VED will be used twice per day for a few minutes and continued for 2 weeks. Using the VED increases the amount of blood flow to the penis and helps increase the outcomes of your P-shot injection.
You can resume sexual activity that same day, within 4 to 6 hours after the treatment.
While side effects can vary from person to person, they tend to be minimal (since PRP is taken from your own blood). Side effects, while rare, can include bruising, swelling at the injection site, and bleeding.
We use the Terumo BCT centrifuge, a top centrifuge system on the market when it comes to obtaining Platelet-Rich Plasma and delivering positive results to our clients. This device separates all red blood cells (approximately 99 percent) from your platelets, enhancing the regenerative benefits of PRP.
Many men notice results from treatment within a few weeks. The timing and number of injections you need will vary based on your overall health and additional factors affecting your sexual function.
Throughout the treatment process, your GameDay Men’s Health provider will answer any questions you have and help you have the best chance of receiving optimal results.
